Runway Revolution

Every year, OTIS College of Art & Design hosts a runway show presented by the Senior Class and their mentors.  Naturally, when design mentors Trina Turk and Johnson Hartig's student-designed collections called for some glamorous accessories, l.a.Eyeworks was chosen to provide stunning sunglasses.  For Turk's collection, it was big, bold, and beautiful with Dosa, Calcutta, Sita, and Madras all making several appearances on the runway.  For Hartig's collection, it was all about turn-of-the-century glam.  l.a.Eyeworks' legendary Bodhi frame in charcoal, with mesmerizing mirrored lenses, donned just about every look.  Click here to check out more videos from l.a.Eyeworks!

Dewey Does it Best

Los Angeles designer Corey Lynn Calter has once again chosen l.a.Eyeworks to accessorize her new spring/summer 09 collection launch.  Calter’s designs feature a hippy-chic vibe and vibrant earth tones, making Dewey (pictured), the perfect choice with its understated retro attitude and natural color palette.  Just released, Dewey has become one of the favorites from l.a.Eyeworks’ new collection.  Be sure to check out the "l.a.Eyeworks in Fashion" photo album for all the latest coverage.

Gourd is Good

Recently, we came across this fantastic image of legendary artist Yayoi Kusama wearing the classic l.a.Eyeworks Lula frame.  Here, Kusama is surrounded by her small "Pumpkin" works, which were made with world-famous Limoges porcelain.  Uncensored visions, indeed.

Framed Cocoon

l.a.Eyeworks was chosen by local artist Aaron Valenzuela to give the finishing touches to his conceptual runway presentation at UCLA's Fashion and Student Trend showcase.  The fashion show, an annual event at the university, had l.a.Eyeworks frames adorning several of the avant garde creations.
With a large catalog of frames to choose from, Valenzuela selected some startling designs from l.a.Eyeworks' most recent collection.  Among the featured frames were the glamorous Bangalore in black zap matte, the beautiful Back Beat in silver tiger, and a Bub in black-orange-grey from the Fiction by l.a.Eyeworks diffusion line.

Retro Royalty

 

Charles Phoenix has a crush on Los Angeles, and l.a.Eyeworks has always had a crush on Charles. Now the L.A.Weekly does, too! Phoenix graced the cover of their annual “People” issue wearing his beloved l.a.Eyeworks Harry frame. His recent roller rink extravaganza shows were a sold out smash and we can’t wait for more! Just A Wink

Our friends at Wink Eyewear in Australia sent us a few images from a shoot that they recently wrapped.  The featured frame, Reed in black havana split, has always been one of our favorites and best sellers!  We love it when friends from all over the world tell us what sorts of high jinks they've been up to!  Okay, maybe a fashionable photo shoot isn't high jinks, but it would be if it was shot at the zoo...in the tiger pit...you never know.

Bent to Party

L.A.Eyeworks was a featured sponsor at this past weekend's Young Hollywood Mansion Party in the Hollywood hills.  At the swanky event, David and Toni from the Melrose store helped represent team l.a.Eyeworks and were snapped by photographers all night!  Here, David is effortlessly wearing Bent in creamora latte, and Toni parties with her Fiction by l.a.Eyeworks frame xl.  This image was taken right before the midnight fashion show was heating up the outdoor tennis courts.  Stay tuned for more updates from the night, and some fierce footage of l.a.Eyeworks on the runway!  Also, be sure to check out the Metro Mix website to see the funny caption that was added to David and Toni's photo!

Holy Toledo!

The Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood hosted another talk from its amazing Inside the Artist's Studio series in junction with OTIS College of Art and Design.  This week's subjects were Isabel and Ruben Toledo, who provided a truly amazing experience for their audience with deep insight, great talk, and gobs of wonderful fashion and art!  l.a.Eyeworks' owners and designers Gai Gherardi and Barbara McReynolds (wearing Rufus and Juarez in tan wood, respectively) managed to chat it up with the Toledos themselves.  Check out these awesome photos that were taken right outside of the Pucci showroom after the event!

King Taco: Our Kind of Royalty!

Check out l.a.Eyeworks super-client Curt Shepard sporting his brand new pair of King Taco frames in Red Wood!  He's mugging it up here with l.a.Eyeworks' co-designer Gai Gherardi outside the Beverly Boulevard flagship store (by the way, doesn't Gai's Rufus frame look awesome?). 

l.a.Eyeworks recently offered the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center a silent auction package that featured a free pair of frames, Rx lenses, and "a personal in-store styling by the designers," as part of LAGALC's annual "DiVine" fundraising event.  Curt outbid all the other framehounds to win the big prize!
